Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this Gen-Y Hitch Black Channel Mount Trailer Coupler. Now this heavy duty coupler is going to let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle, giving you a connection point for your two and five 16ths inch hitch ball. This is gonna be great for utility trailers, livestock trailers, cargo and construction trailers. And this is made here in the USA of a heavy duty steel construction.
And this is going to give you a weight capacity of 21,000 pounds. And the zinc primer and powder coat finishes are all gonna work together to resist corrosion. Now this will mount into a three inch wide channel bracket. And this adjustable channel mount lets you change your coupler heights depending on your application. And the channel bracket and mounting hardware are sold separately from this, just so you're aware.
This is just gonna include that coupler. And I wanna give you a brief demonstration of how easy this is going to be to use. So I've got a two and five 16ths inch hitch ball here. The coupler is, it's closed, I don't have it opened or anything like that. And so what's nice about this is while it's closed, all you have to do is drop the coupler onto the ball and you're gonna have a secure connection, just like that.
And then I'm gonna flip this up like this just so I have the leverage to turn this to uncouple. To uncouple, it's gonna be pretty simple. You're just gonna turn this, and then there's gonna be a point where you feel like you can't turn anymore. Well, you just keep turning. And then that's going to allow you to disconnect this, just like that.
So it just has a point there where it feels like that you can't turn anymore, and you just need to give it an extra push and then that will come disconnected. So this is gonna be very easy to connect and disconnect. The mounting holes are five eighths of an inch in diameter. The distance between them on center is going to be two inches. And I went ahead and took some measurements before our time together. Looking at the overall width, and I'm including the snap latch handle here. So end to end on the width, we're about five and a half inches. The overall length, about eight and one eight inches. And then the overall height, about three and a half inches. So Gen-Y is well known for making very durable, robust products. This is no exception to that. So this will be a great option for you to consider if it meets the specs that you're looking for, and that snap latch is going to also be a great feature as well. If you happen to have any other questions, whether it's about this or anything else that we carry, don't hesitate to reach out. We do wanna make sure that you're getting exactly what you need. Well, again, my name's Andy. Thank you for joining me.
I think Gen-Y missed a finishing step. I purchased this to replace my broken Demco coupler. The issue I had was the Gen-Y wouldn’t fit in my Lamar dump trailer C channel. Rather than returning it I had to grind the sides of the Gen-Y down some since I needed it ASAP. Due to the price and what was needed to make it usable I don’t recommend this product.
